Google Analytics 4 and Paid Lens: product overview
GA4 holds the middle of the story: where traffic landed, what it did, and which paths ended in a conversion. On its own it is famously hard to read, and it has no idea what anything cost.
Paid Lens connects to a GA4 property through read-only OAuth and imports channel, source/medium, landing page, event and conversion data via the Data API. Joined to ad spend, GA4's behavioural signal becomes an efficiency signal.
This is the connection that turns 'this campaign has a high CPA' into 'this campaign has a high CPA because its landing page converts at a third of the site average'.

Common use cases
Diagnose a high CPA properly
Paid Lens separates a traffic quality problem from a landing page problem, which changes the fix entirely.
Find landing pages worth fixing first
Pages are ranked by the revenue recoverable if their conversion rate reached the site median, so the highest-value fix comes first.
Reconcile platform claims with site reality
When platform-reported conversions and GA4 disagree, the gap is quantified and flagged as a data quality issue rather than silently averaged.
Understand multi-touch journeys
Assisted conversion paths inform how much credit an upper-funnel channel earns in cross-channel recommendations.

Why connect Google Analytics 4
Every connection raises the quality of the recommendations Paid Lens can make. Read more about how access is scoped and protected on our security page.
Paid Lens cannot change budgets, pause campaigns, or edit records. Tokens are encrypted and can be revoked at any time.
It grades your data quality
GA4 is the reference point Paid Lens uses to judge whether platform-reported conversions can be trusted.
Site problems masquerade as media problems
Without site behaviour, half of all CPA recommendations would be aimed at the wrong layer.
Read-only property access
Paid Lens requests GA4 read scopes only and never modifies your property configuration.
Google Analytics 4 integration FAQ
Which GA4 properties can I connect?
Any property your Google account can read. You choose the property during setup and can connect more than one.
Does Paid Lens use the GA4 Data API or the raw BigQuery export?
The GA4 Data API by default, which requires no BigQuery setup. Teams already exporting to BigQuery can talk to us about using it.
Will sampling affect the numbers?
Paid Lens requests aggregations designed to avoid sampling thresholds and flags any response GA4 marks as sampled rather than presenting it as exact.
Does connecting GA4 change my property?
No. Access is read-only; no events, conversions, or settings are modified.
Do I still need GA4 if I have a CRM connected?
They answer different questions. GA4 explains site behaviour; the CRM explains revenue. Recommendations are strongest with both.
