Google Ads and Paid Lens: product overview
Google Ads is usually the largest single line in a performance budget, and the hardest to read honestly. Auction dynamics move, Performance Max hides placement detail, and conversion counts drift as attribution windows close. The reports are accurate; the interpretation is the hard part.
Paid Lens connects to Google Ads through read-only OAuth and pulls campaign, ad group, keyword, asset group and conversion data on a rolling schedule. Nothing is ever written back to your account. From there the platform standardizes the metrics against every other connected channel and produces prioritized recommendations with an expected business impact and a confidence score.
The result is not another Google Ads dashboard. It is a short list of decisions — pause this, shift budget there, fix this conversion action — that you can defend in a meeting because the evidence travels with the recommendation.

What data is imported
Read-only, aggregated for analysis, and never written back to Google Ads.
Campaign and ad group structure
Names, status, bidding strategy, budgets and campaign type.
Spend and delivery
Cost, impressions, clicks, impression share and lost share by budget or rank.
Conversions
Conversion actions, values, conversion lag and attribution model settings.
Keywords and search terms
Match type, quality signals and query-level cost, where available.
Performance Max asset groups
Asset group performance and available channel-level breakdowns.
Change history
Recent account changes so a performance shift can be matched to what caused it.
Common use cases
Find wasted spend before month end
Paid Lens flags campaigns whose cost per acquisition has drifted past your threshold with enough volume to be statistically meaningful, and quantifies what pausing or capping them recovers.
Reallocate budget with a number attached
When one campaign consistently converts cheaper than another at comparable volume, you get a specific shift recommendation and the expected result if you take it.
Catch conversion tracking problems early
Sudden conversion drops that don't match click trends are surfaced as data quality issues rather than performance issues, so you fix the tag instead of cutting a working campaign.
Explain Performance Max to a skeptical CFO
Blend Google Ads spend with CRM revenue to report what Performance Max actually produced in pipeline, not just platform-reported conversions.

Why connect Google Ads
Every connection raises the quality of the recommendations Paid Lens can make. Read more about how access is scoped and protected on our security page.
Paid Lens cannot change budgets, pause campaigns, or edit records. Tokens are encrypted and can be revoked at any time.
It is the anchor channel
Most cross-channel comparisons only become meaningful once Google Ads is in the picture. Connecting it first raises the quality of every other recommendation.
Read-only, always
Paid Lens requests read scopes only. It cannot pause a campaign, change a bid, or edit a budget. Every recommendation is yours to approve and apply.
One minute to value
Sign in with Google, pick the accounts you want, and the first analysis runs as soon as the backfill completes.
Google Ads integration FAQ
Does Paid Lens change anything in my Google Ads account?
No. The connection uses read-only OAuth scopes. Paid Lens cannot create, pause, or edit campaigns, budgets, or bids. Recommendations are applied by you inside Google Ads.
How long does the Google Ads connection take to set up?
About a minute. You sign in with Google, choose which accounts or MCC sub-accounts to link, and the historical backfill starts immediately.
How much history is imported?
Paid Lens backfills up to 24 months of Google Ads history where the API makes it available, which is enough to establish seasonality and reliable baselines.
Does it support manager (MCC) accounts?
Yes. You can connect a manager account and select which sub-accounts to include, which is how most agencies run it.
How often does Google Ads data refresh?
Every four hours by default. Conversion figures continue to update as Google's own attribution windows close, and Paid Lens reflects those restatements.
